Only certified individuals receive a coaches' armband. Bring a photo ID to check-in, it is checked against the certification list.

Three steps, in order

  1. Get a USA Basketball Gold License. The NCAA Enforcement Certification and Approval Group adopted the USA Basketball Gold License as the requirement to coach or sit on a bench at a certified event. You will need internet access, current knowledge of NCAA basketball certification rules, a valid credit card and a current email address. USA Basketball coach licensing.
  2. Create BBCS accounts. After you receive your Gold License number, every coach (head and assistant) and every player creates an account on the Basketball Certification System. Coaches enter their license number; families create the athlete accounts. Basketball Certification System.
  3. Bring photo ID to check-in. Staff confirm your certification at the table and hand you an armband. No armband, no bench.

Which NEB events are certified

Run 4 Roses Classic and Championship carry NCAA certification; the 2027 certificate is being applied for. Every certified event says so on its event page. Non certified events do not require the Gold License, but the same coaches usually attend both, so certify once and you are set for the summer.

College coaches

College coaches register separately and receive a credential with a QR code for the check-in table. Register as a college coach.
