NEB posts the rules and format for each event on that event's page. This page covers what every NEB event shares, links the Run 4 Roses event rules page, and lists the NCAA certification requirements for coaches.
Rules and format are posted per event. Game length, clock, timeouts, tiebreakers and bracket format are on each event's page and can differ from event to event. Questions go to Sarah Insell, Event Director, 931-619-0930.
Rules Post Per Event
NEB does not publish one set of game rules for all eight events. Each event page carries its own rules and format: game length and clock, timeouts, overtime, tiebreakers for pool standings, how many teams advance, and bracket format. Check the event page before your first game, and check again the week of the event, since details can be updated as the field is set.
1.1Where to look
- The event's page on this site, under Rules and Format. Every event is listed on the Events page.
- For Roses Rising Stars, the Run 4 Roses Classic and the Run 4 Roses Championship, the Run 4 Roses event rules page (section 3.0 below).
- Anything not covered on the event page: ask Sarah before the event, not at the scorer's table.

2.1Grad year divisions
Teams enter by the high school graduation year of their players, from the class of 2027 (seniors in 2026-27) down to the class of 2034 (5th grade). Roses Rising Stars plays by grade, 4th through 7th. Division rules for any event are on its page.
2.2Game guarantee per event
Every event carries a game guarantee listed with its entry fee. The Last Dance guarantees three games. Showtime Shootout, The Clash, The Classic and Battle in the Boro each guarantee four. Run 4 Roses guarantees are on its event pages.
2.3Pool play into brackets
Teams play pool games first, then are seeded into brackets. How pool standings are broken and how many teams advance is set per event and posted on the event page. Schedules, scores, standings and brackets for each event are posted on this site.
2.4Gate admission
NEB events charge gate admission for spectators. At the Showtime Shootout the gate is $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday, cash only. Gate prices for other events post on each event page.
2.5Coach certification at certified events
At NCAA certified events every coach on the bench needs a USA Basketball Gold License and a BBCS account, brings photo ID to check in, and only certified individuals receive a coaches' armband. Section 4.0 has the full requirement.
2.6Refund policy
Full refund up to 14 days before an event, then a credit toward a future NEB event. Weather cancellations are refunded in full. Section 5.0 has NEB's published policy in full. Run 4 Roses follows the Three Step Sports refund policy.
Run 4 Roses Event Rules
Roses Rising Stars, the Run 4 Roses Classic and the Run 4 Roses Championship play at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville under the Run 4 Roses Event Rules, published as a shared document by TFN's Run 4 Roses. The document is the source for game rules at those three events; nothing on this page replaces it.
Stay to Play
Run 4 Roses is Stay to Play: every participant stays in a partner hotel or opts out by paying the $125 per player fee.
Run 4 Roses pageNCAA Certification
Everyone who coaches at an NCAA certified event must be approved before the event through USA Basketball and the Basketball Certification System (BBCS). Head coaches, assistant coaches and scorekeepers all need a USA Basketball Gold License, a BBCS account for every coach and player, and photo ID at check-in. Only NCAA certified individuals receive a coaches' armband.
4.1Before the event
- Every head coach, assistant coach and scorekeeper holds a USA Basketball Gold License.
- Every coach and player has an account in the Basketball Certification System (BBCS).
- Approval is completed before the event, not at the door.
4.2At check in
- Bring photo ID.
- Only NCAA certified individuals receive a coaches' armband.
